  • GOLF
  • In contrast to the dry plains of Fuerteventura, we encounter the greenness of its golf courses, which so delight golfers. There is also the possibility of relaxing after play on one of its wide open white-sanded beaches with crystal-clear waters.
  • The Fuerteventura Golf Club, with 18 holes, in Caleta de Fuste, is situated in the municipality of Antigua, only 8 km from airport and 14 km from the island's capital, surrounded by attractive scenery and leisure facilities: beaches with fine white sand and seawater lakes, shopping centres, health centre, old people's home, bilingual multiscreen cinema, and all the beauty and exceptional climatic conditions of the Canary Islands. • Hole 1: A relatively short par four, with a southern descent from the clubhouse. With the wind behind you, whoever uses a drive from the tee runs the risk of ending up in the gully which crosses the fairway forty metres from the green, or the enormous bunker to the left of the fairway forty metres from the green. The green is higher up and well protected by bunkers, etc.
  • Hole: 2 A long par four. It has a long but narrow fairway. A tee with fade will reach several trees which will make it difficult to reach the green with the approach shot. A gully runs parallel to the hole but must not come into play.
  • Hole 3: Straight par four but with a very protected green. It also has a gully on its side and at this hole the gully comes into play.
  • Hole 4: Par three which is not difficult unless playing into the wind.
  • Hole 5: This is one of two par fives on the course (the other is hole 17). Hole with quite a wide fairway bending slightly to the right just before the green. All short shots will end up in the large bunker just before the green.
  • Hole 6: A par four with a fairway bending to the left just before the green. Too long an approach shot will end up in the gully.
  • Hole 7: Par three where the green is protected by a lake. It needs a precise tee shot. There is an area of the fairway to the left of the green for those willing to risk a shot to the green.
  • Hole 8: Par four with a dog-leg two hundred metres away. If you don't reach the dogleg, you won't be able to reach the green. Just before the green, there is a hollow where weak shots or rolling balls will end up.
  • Hole 9: A short par four with a very delicate green. The practice course, to the left of the fairway, is off limits and is a constant threat. The second nine holes start with a par four which is parallel to the previous hole. The green has three levels and needs a good approach shot.
  • Hole 11: Par four where the drive goes over a lake. The shot is not difficult but the approach shot to the green is.
  • Hole 12: Par three goes back over the same lake as hole 11 but this time just before the green. This hole is 196 metres from the tee and there is a head wind.
  • Hole 13: A long par four. This is one of the holes which crosses the ria. This water obstacle should not be a problem but the enormous bunker just before the green is another matter.
  • Hole 14: Par four with a lake to the left of the fairway. It is not excessively long but it needs two exact shots to reach the green.
  • Hole 15: Par three. This is the second hold which crosses the ria. It is relatively long, but with the wind behind you, the ria should not come into play.
  • Hole 16: Par four with a slight dog-leg toward the left. The fairway bunker comes into play at the drop of the drive and the wind makes this hole difficult.
  • Hole 17: Par five. This hole together with the 18th are the only uneven ones. Hole 17 rises steeply to the green where only the upper part of the flag is visible from the fairway. The green also has three levels and several bunkers around it.
  • Hole 18: This last hole is a par four, with a very high tee and 90 degree dogleg
  • There are also plans for other golf courses on the island.
